PKR, known for its signature 3D graphics and detailed avatars, was launched in 2004, right in the midst of the original online poker boom.
Since then PKR has built a devoted following by offering an alternative experience to what the other major online poker sites provide. The site has averaged over half a million new sign-ups every year since it launched.
"Every element of PKR's success in the UK and across the world is down to our members - they are the ones that spread the word, tell us what we're doing right and tell us what we're doing wrong,” said a PKR spokesperson.
“To reach five-million before the end of last year was crazy and we've got plenty of online ideas to keep the recruitment drive going in 2013.”
PKR Software Upgraded in Late 2012
PKR’s software is always evolving and the site added several significant enhancements in late 2012 with in-game chip protectors, snacks and drinks at the table.
The company also launched an iPad app in January and the site is planning on releasing an iPhone app later this month.
PKR Live will also return later this month at the Aspers mega-casino in Stratford, London. More than 300 entrants are expected to compete for a six-figure prizepool.
