Blom is joined by recent EPT Prague winner Martin Finger who’s keeping the wins coming for Germany and SrslySirius for another poker rap video instant classic.
On the other side of the table, declared Out this week, is Phil Galfond's relationship with Bluefire Poker, our favorite poker TV show High Stakes Poker and unknown high-stakes PLO player “VietRussian”.
Keep your arms and legs inside the article, this is Poker’s In and Out List.
Poker’s In List: December 5-11, 2011
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom: IN
Viktor Blom has been absent from high-stakes online poker for the last few months but that ended this weekend as the young Swede smashed his way to $500,000 in profits.
Playing mostly $100/$200 and logging roughly 7,000 hands, Blom left a bloody swath of bankroll destruction in his wake. Among his exploits was the biggest pot of the day, a $213,000 behemoth against VietRussian, whose massive losing session is described below.
Blom is now up close to $1 million in profit on PokerStars in 2011.
SrslySirius: IN
There’s no shortage of poker rap songs out there but no one does it better, and more frequently, than SrslySirius.
Tony G is the inspiration for this new track.
Martin Finger: IN
Germans are winning everything in the poker world these days and the trend continued yesterday with Martin Finger’s victory at EPT Prague.
Usually simply winning an EPT isn’t enough to get you on this list but since Martin Finger was previously showcased on our Out List, we felt obliged to give him a nod today.
Click here to read about when he was supposedly arrested for breaking into a restaurant while intoxicated after the PokerStars party at EPT London. The story is that he was hungry and upon finding the restaurant closed, he broke in and tried to make himself something to eat.
Poker’s Out List: December 5-11, 2011
Phil Galfond: OUT … of Bluefire.com
Phil Galfond, perhaps the most respected poker mind in the coaching game, has stepped down from Bluefire.com, the coaching site he helped build from the ground up.
This Two Plus Two thread explains the situation, along with a reprint of Galfond’s original blog entry that has since been deleted from Bluefire.
The thread details a lot of behind-the-scenes political drama at BFP which led to Galfond’s recent decision.
High Stakes Poker and Norm Macdonald: OUT
HSP was the pinnacle of cash poker on television but after seven seasons it’s officially been shelved by the Game Show Network.
Speculation points to Norm Macdonald’s role as host, the lack of fan-favorite Full Tilters like Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan, and the entire Black Friday debacle as the biggest reasons for GSN’s decision.
Check out a few of our favorite moments from the good old days of HSP.
Kid Poker Melts Down Dwan Posterizes Barry Greenstein Greenstein Bluffs Elezra with Six-HighVietRussian: OUT
Like we said before Isildur1 profited to the tune of $500k playing online poker this weekend and to make that possible there had to be some pretty big losers. Unknown high-stakes player VietRussian was the biggest.
VietRussian is a new account on PokerStars which has so far gone unidentified. What we do know is that he lost just under $230,000 in the last 48 hours.
You can vote on who you think the account belongs to on Two Plus Two.
