The Gaming Control Board submitted a bill draft last week that would amend current gaming regulations to allow Nevada to enter into agreements with other states that legalize online poker.
The amended bill would theoretically permit Nevada to accept bets from poker players in other states. Because the state only has about three million residents it makes sense for Nevada to accept players from other states.
New Jersey has also introduced a bill that allows interstate online poker but Governor Chris Christie has yet to make a decision on that bill.
Delaware is the only other state that has already authorized intrastate online gaming.
The next step for the proposed amendment in Nevada is the judiciary committee. As of yet there is no timetable for when it will be approved.
The U.S. potentially opened the door for online poker in late 2011 when the DOJ concluded the Wire Act only applied to sports betting.
Nevada has issued online gaming licenses to 17 operators but none of them have started offering online poker for real money.
