Daily 3-Bet: Galfond Bows, Telker Breaks, Sin City Fail

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Galfond taking a beating from a rampaging Viktor Blom, Mike Telker breaking through with his first “major” live tourney win and Jennifer Harman mercifully relieved of her Sin City Rules duties.

1) Blom Blitzes Galfond for $425k in 351 Hands

On a massive heater that may soon become even more legendary than his original, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom ran up another $1m profit over the last 24hrs according to HighStakesDB.com.

He took on all comers again at everything from 2-7 Triple Draw to Omaha 8 but his marquee match-up was undoubtedly some very deep $250/$500 Pot-Limit Omaha against fellow online icon Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond.

A true clash of poker titans, Blom proceeded to blitz Galfond for $425k in just 351 hands, leaving Phil to do nothing but say GG and shut it down for the day.

A guy used to big swings, Galfond says he was fine to lose the money to his friend Blom but wasn’t happy with his play:

Bad first "real" session on FTP. Got beat up by my friend, @viktorblom. Glad it was to him, but very disappointed w/ how I played. #ohwell

As of press time Blom is back online looking to run it up even further. Rail the games by downloading Full Tilt Poker here.

2) Mike Telker Wins $5k PCA Turbo for First Live Major

As one of our Players to Watch for 2012, we’ve obviously been following Mike Telker a bit closer than your average poker fan.

Starting last year off with a 7th-place finish in the $25k PCA High Roller and a second-place in the $2k Leaderboard event, things were shaping up to be a big year.

We didn’t hear too much more, though, until a massive run in the WCOOP Main Event under his nickname munchenHB saw him score a third-place finish (after a deal) and a $1 million payday.

Still, a big "live major" win eluded him.

Back at the 2013 PCA where he’s clearly comfortable, Telker changed that with his first live major title yesterday in the $5k No-Limit Hold'em Turbo event. Even better, Telker topped PokerStars pro and online legend Johnny Lodden heads-up for the win.

Also of note from the PCA side events yesterday:

Poker pro Peter Jetten won the first-ever Open-Face Chinese Poker tournament for $52,280, defeating 77 entrants including OFC obsessives Jason Mercier and Shaun Deeb.

Check for recaps of all PCA side events on the PokerStars blog.

3) Sin City Rules Mercifully Put to Bed

It hasn’t been officially confirmed but rumors are circulating that Sin City Rules, the TLC reality show in which poker pro and all-around nice woman Jennifer Harman is painfully miscast among a crew of aging, shrill Las Vegas “power women,” has been cancelled.

Despite the prediction from Daniel Negreanu it would be a ratings hit, the show was, well, just awful. Just five of the eight episodes filmed aired before the plug was pulled.

In case you’re wondering why, just see how far you can make it through Ep. 1. Over/under is 6 mins.
