Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth hitting his all-time high on the GPI, Daniel Negreanu crushing the Aria game for $50k last night and the Russell Thomas Final Table documentary hitting its stride.

1) Hellmuth Peaks at #7 on Global Poker Index

First he cracked the top 10. Then he crept up to #9. Now he’s quiety climbed to #7.

If the poker world isn’t careful, Phil Hellmuth might just take over the #1 spot on the Global Poker Index with one more big tournament score before the end of the year.

Then, as prophesied by the Mayans, the Earth shall melt.

Philipp Gruissem
Gruissem: Senses the white magic.

This week’s GPI update has been released and Hellmuth has hit his career high point at #7 -- mostly, of course, due to his incredible WSOPE Main Event win last month.

He’s still about 500 points behind top dog Jason Mercier, but doubting Hellmuth can accomplish anything in tournament poker given his record the past 18 months seems like a mistake to us.

The new top 10 below; check the full top 300 here.

1. Jason Mercier 2905.72 2. Bertrand Grospellier 2732.80 3. Marvin Guido Rettenmaier 2602.64 4. Andrew Lichtenberger 2550.38 5. Stephen O'Dwyer 2496.85 6. Philipp Gruissem 2477.83 7. Phil Hellmuth 2409.32 8. Dan Smith 2393.94 9. David Sands 2393.40 10. Eugene Katchalov 2320.27

2) Negreanu Wins $50k in Soft ARIA Game

We know. We’re a little saturated on Negreanu news this week but this was too notable to pass up.

Jean Robert Bellande
JRB: Generous host.

Getting back to playing poker instead of lambasting Howard Lederer, Negreanu was in the heart of the action at a supposedly soft $400/$800 game at ARIA in Vegas last night.

By the time DNegs quit for the night he had pocketed a tidy $50k – or enough to pay for his ongoing kitchen renovation.

No word on who the biggest victim was but the game did seem to be spearheaded by Jean-Robert Bellande.

Also reportedly loitering around the table were Tom Marchese, Joe Cheong and Vanessa Selbst.

Playing $400-$800 @ariapoker apparently there is also a game at Bellagio but there is NO chance that game is better than this!

Basically win every pot I play @ariapoker always run hot here it seems. Doesn't matter what we play. #winning twitter.com/RealKidPoker/s…

My @dnassistant told me to bring home $50k to pay for house renovations. Thanks to the gentlemen @ariapoker I listened. Won every pot.

3) Final Table Part 3 Up, Russell Thomas Getting Very Good

If you haven't seen the new mini-doc about Octo-Niner Russell Thomas's training, you should.

Production quality is great and the supporting cast, from coach Jason Somerville to hired guns Matt Berkey and Leo Wolpert to media ace BJ Nemeth, is top notch.

Part 3 below is the best yet. Watch Parts 1 and 2 here; read our exclusive interview with Thomas from the WSOPE here.
