Known as one of the most cerebral players in the game, Haxton has over $4 million in lifetime tournament earnings.
“I’m excited for the new opportunities this partnership brings,” he said. “I’m not just playing for myself now – I’m representing a team and a brand. That brings new opportunities and new responsibilities.”
Haxton is a fearsome online player and has been known to play some of the highest stakes available.
The Syracuse-native, who plays online as “philivey2694” was one of the only players to ever beat Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in the SuperStar Showdown. He was also the only participant who agreed to play Blom for $1 million in the biggest Showdown ever played.
First Online Poker Sponsorship for Haxton
Despite his success Haxton has never represented an online poker site and was understandably excited to be donning a PokerStars patch.
“I want to make Supernova Elite in 2012 playing mostly heads-up Sit & Go’s. I also want to learn Pot Limit Omaha and play some heads-up No Limit Hold’em cash matches.”
According to Haxton it was absolutely imperative he sign with an online poker site that he believed in and PokerStars was first on that list.
All this week PokerStars was running a competition to guess the new Team Online pro and all the contestants who correctly guessed Haxton were entered into a draw for $2,500 in cash prizes.
During the 36 hours of the contest, there were nearly 1,500 guesses. About 10% ended up getting the correct answer. PokerStars drew 50 names out of those correct answers and is awarding each of them $50 for their correct guess.
