Juanda finished with 2.5 million chips and will be the chip leader when the faux final table of nine players begins tomorrow. The official final table begins with eight players remaining.
Close behind Juanda is famous Malaysian businessman Richard Yong who ended the day with 1.309 million chips.
German cash-game crusher Philip Gruissem is third in chips with 1.308 million.
Also in the final nine are Steve O’Dwyer, Tobias Reinkemeier, David Benefield, Jani Sointula, Winfred Yu and Mike Watson.
Interestingly one player will go home empty-handed as the cash doesn’t start until eight players are left.
The Majestic High Roller is a non-bracelet event but the winner will still walk away with a €1 million prize.
Ivey, Duhamel Register Late, Bust Early
Day 2 of the Majestic High Roller began with 37 players but one hour of registration and rebuys was still allowed.
Late registration didn’t seem to work very well in this event as Phil Ivey, Jonathan Duhamel and Emil Patel all entered late but busted in short order.
By the time the final player had been counted there were a total of 60 players in the tournament. Once the 11 rebuys were added into the equation the prizepool hit €2,880,000.
Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu spent a fair amount of time near the top of the chip counts but his journey came to a sudden end when John Juanda flopped a set of fours again him.
Kid Poker had pocket kings and couldn't get away from the hand. It didn't help that he made a large 3-bet before the flop was dealt.
Negreanu had quite a bit of company on the rail, however, as Sam Trickett, Tony G, Scott Seiver, Roger Hairabedian, Andrew Lichtenberger and Justin Bonomo were all among the players eliminated on Day 2.
Action resumes at 3 p.m. CET tomorrow and the goal is to play down to a winner.
Here are the chip counts at the end of Day 2:
1. John Juanda – 2.5 million 2. Richard Yong – 1.3 million 3. Phillip Gruissem – 1.3 million 4. Steve O’Dwyer – 1.1 million 5. Tobias Reinkemeier – 904,000 6. David Benefield – 551,000 7. Jani Sointula – 489,000 8. Winfred Yu – 368,000 9. Mike Watson – 299,000Visit www.pokerlistings.com
