The Floridian, who won a bracelet in last year’s WSOPE Mix-Max event, finished with a towering stack of 234,850, more than enough for the overall chip lead.
Mizrachi led the charge for the 215 players who took to the felt on Day 1a including Phil Ivey, Jennifer Tilly, Matt Stout, JC Alvarado, Steve O’Dwyer, Victor Ramdin, Vanessa Selbst, Chris Moorman, Nam Le, JC Tran and Tobias Reinkemeier.
Ninety-Eight Players Eliminated on Day 1a
By the time play concluded approximately 50% of the field had been cut with 117 players booking their tickets to Day 2.
Tilly, Fabrice Soulier, Will Failla, Jeff Lisandro, Frank Kassela and Reinkemeier were among the notable players who were eliminated on Day 1a.
Phil Ivey made his presence known on Day 1a and after being incredibly active early, finished with a decent 55,000 stack.
Meanwhile JC Alvarado (180,675), Dan Shak (100,875), Steve O’Dwyer (89,000), Prosper Masquelier (70,450) and Matt Stout (61,650) made it to Day 2 with above-average stacks.
Although numbers have down at the WSOPE across the board, Day 1b of the Main Event is expected to be bigger with poker stars Daniel Negreanu, Tristan Wade and Jason Mercier among the many players set to hit the tables.
The tournament has a long ways to go, however, before it gets anywhere close to the 593 entrants that played last year.
Day 1b begins at 12:00 CET on Sunday.
